Chapter 3 – Jean Paul
Reading time:

Jean Paul comes from a family with 3 children, of which he is the eldest. His parents, brother and sister live far away, so he doesn’t see them often. Everyone in the village where he grew up called him JP, they thought Jean Paul was too tall. Almost everyone, because his mother and grandmother call him by his full name. He trained as a carpenter and then worked for bosses for a long time. After an argument with his last boss, because he did not agree with a brilliant solution, JP continued as an independent handyman. He always has plenty of work.
Jean Paul is also immediately accepted by Claire and Lisa, much to Lana’s delight. She beams with happiness from ear to ear.
Lisa goes one step further by proposing to make real work trousers for JP.

After taking Jean Paul’s measurements, she gets to work. For the time being, she is working in the kitchen at the table, because she does not yet have her own studio.
Fortunately, Claire already has some things ready for dinner and she is postponing dessert for a while.
Lisa makes a pattern, cuts out the fabric, pins the parts together and goes to the sewing machine.
Lana and JP also start their work. They come to watch every now and then, full of admiration. It’s a completely different job than what they have.
They start with new connecting doors in the house. The old window frames are being demolished. New window frames are made with new doors and hinges. They sand, plan, saw and carpenter.

Lana and JP sing and hum. They also make quite a bit of noise with their tools. They have a good collaboration. Indicate things to each other, even before they are asked, things are often already indicated. They have worked together many times and know each other well.
It’s a terrible mess, but luckily they clean up the worst of the mess at the end of the day to the satisfaction of Claire and Lisa. They look at each other again. It’s a good team, says Lisa.
