Chapter 15 – Life goes on
Reading time:

Jean Paul and Lana have just finished major jobs for the house and are working in the shed on small furniture for the house. They have already made an open rack against the back wall for towels in the bathroom, but it is also useful to make a rack under the window to hang used towels. They also make a chair with armrests, because that is easy when dressing or undressing.
A similar armchair will be placed in Lisa and Mimi’s office. They also hang a mirror like the one in the bathroom. Lana paints all the new furniture and the windows in the girls’ room.
Lisa has stored some of her fabrics in the wall rack in the office and comes to the conclusion that it is not enough to accommodate everything. She also already has two cabinets in the office in use. Mimi doesn’t need that much space for her work, so the third cupboard is for office supplies. Lisa has so many more fabrics. It is almost impossible for a seamstress not to buy a fabric when it catches her eye. Fortunately, when she moved to their new home, her boss allowed her to store everything in a storage room. She is very pleased that she can now bring some of it here.

Mimi is happily working next to her at the desk and regularly goes shopping for Claire. They occasionally talk about all kinds of things, but mostly work in pleasant silence. This afternoon she gave a beggar the change for groceries. “He looked so defeated,” she tells Lisa. “I feel sorry for him.”
“There’s not much you can do for him,” Lisa says. “He will have to find his way in society himself.”
“I find it very difficult to accept,” she says doubtfully. “I would like to do something for him.”

“You’ll think of something.”
One evening, Lisa Jean calls Paul into the office. “I have something for you.”
“Finally I can know,” he exclaims and runs to her in his dressing gown. There is a pile of blue towels and washcloths on the desktop.
“For you,” says Lisa.
Jean Paul’s eyes shine. He is very happy.
